Whether in the mood for a quick bite or a luxury Afternoon Tea experience, there are plenty of food and drink options to be enjoyed in Balmoral’s elegant and spacious restaurant.
Our elegant and spacious restaurant is currently closed to the Public. However during August and September our Main Gate Terrace Cafe will be open daily from 1000 until 1600 during August and September.
The restaurant will open to visitors again on Tuesday 29 September and will be available throughout the autumn opening season.
Local Seasonal Dining with produce sourced from the Balmoral Castle Gardens
When the restaurant is available you can enjoy locally sourced Balmoral Estate venison burgers and beef burgers made from estate reared cattle, traditional Scottish Cullen skink, handmade pies, seasonal soups, and luxury dining experiences in sophisticated and historical surroundings at Balmoral.
Our menu is crafted using only the finest ingredients, harvested directly from the Balmoral Estate by our expert gardeners or selected from trusted local suppliers.
Each dish celebrates the fresh flavours of the estate’s natural larder, ensuring that your meal is as sustainable as it is delicious. Seasonal highlights include cakes and sandwiches that highlight the best of what’s available throughout the year.
Options for vegetarian and gluten-free diners are available.

Afternoon Tea
Dining at Balmoral is about the experience.
Join us in the summer opening for our unique Afternoon Tea in our newly renovated restaurant, where you can indulge in a selection of savouries made from Balmoral game, fish and local eggs, as well as traditional freshly baked scones, pastries and macaroons, all served in a setting steeped in royal history.
Enjoy your Afternoon Tea served on bone china, an exact replica from inside Balmoral Castle, which are also available for purchase in our gift shop.
Tickets for Summer 2027 will be available from the ticketing website in early January.
