How car park funds are used?
All proceeds from the car park are used to help maintain the car park and the extensive path network on the Estate.
Over 100,000 people visit this site annually, and the cumulative impact of their feet can result in severe erosion. High up on Lochnagar where soils are thin, and conditions are harsh the impact is even more severe. The estate employs skilled contractors and rangers to repair and maintain the paths.
As well as restoring ugly erosion scars this work helps to protect important species and habitats. This work takes place all year round and can be very challenging and expensive. A meter of path can cost over £100 to rebuild. Your contribution in the form of a ticket payment helps us to look after this special place.
Thank you!
