From the car park walk over the green bridge, across the River Dee. At the main gates for Balmoral Castle bear left on to the South Deeside Road.

Follow the road for 800m and turn right up the hill, signposted to the distillery. After 100m uphill turn right over a small bridge into the village of Easter Balmoral. Once over the bridge immediately turn left and head up hill. Proceed up this road for 300m until you arrive at a sign indicating left up a footpath signposted ‘Prince Albert’s Cairn’. Continue up this steep hill for 1km to gain the summit and Prince Albert's Cairn (aka The Pyramid).

Walkers can retrace their steps to the car park or descend down the other side of the hill to gain a land rover track. Turn right at the land rover track then proceed downhill for three hundred metres to a junction. Bear right at this junction and then follow this track downhill to a wooden gate. Keep proceeding through the wooden gate and keep walking downhill to Easter Balmoral and leave the Estate the same way you entered.
